FAVOR US, FROM YOU, (KNOWLEDGE UNDERSTANDING AND WISE CONDUCT)

We request of Hashem to favor us with all facets of knowledge and understanding, for even the understanding which does require effort on our part (בינה) is actually only a free gift bestowed upon us by Hakadosh Boruch Hu. We therefore stress “מאתך”, from You, for we know that it is all completely and solely from You, Hashem, and we beg of You to favor us with the gifts of True Knowledge and Understanding.
