“קשין מזונותיו של אדם כקריעת ים סוף “, “A man’s food is as difficult as the splitting of the Yam Suf” (Pesachim 118a).
The needs of “the living” are many, and each one is a miracle of the greatest magnitude. Sustaining man is from the mightiest and most kindly deeds of Hakadosh Baruch Hu. The colors, the taste, the fragrance, the sheer pleasure – all this חסד Hashem gives us through miracles upon miracles, in order that we be stirred to be aware of His benevolence. This Awareness is the sole purpose of living, as well as the truest and greatest Kindliness of all.
