SHIELD OF OUR SALVATION

Not only are You the Rock and the strength of our lives, but You also act as a Shield that stands between us and possible misfortune. Not only do You save us from misfortune that has already befallen us, but You are like a shield that prevents misfortune from ever even materializing, so that we are usually entirely unaware of the great salvation that You do for us; “even the recipient of the miracle is unaware of his miracle” (Niddah 31a).
