Q:
You said that a person who has bitachon won’t feel insecure. But how does one build bitachon?
A:
We build bitachon by listening to the words of such great men like the Chovos Halevavos. An example: When we understand that everything in the world is under direct conduct of Hashem; that הוא ה’ אלוקינו – He’s ours, וכל הארץ משפטיו – and everything that happens in all the world is His judgements; it means whatever He does, He does as our Hashem. Nothing happens in the world unless He does it and He does it only in the role of our Hashem; when we understand that, so that’s something that leads to bitachon.
So therefore, the first thing is to get into our heads that everything is under Hashem’s control and He does it for the benefit of the Am Yisroel. That’s a fundamental principle of emuna, that Hakodosh Boruch Hu is conducting the affairs of the world for the benefit of Am Yisroel. When a person is constantly reviewing that in his mind, when he gets that into his bones, then he’s not going to have any lack of bitachon.
