Q:

Some of the religious authorities in Medinas Yisroel are talking with the government about taking religious boys into the army in the form of Nachal Chareidi. What do you say?

A:

Some people are proposing to take frum boys into the army in frum regiments.
You should know it’s a shtus. The army is made lechatchilah for the purpose of changing the minds of the boys in the army. It’s a statement that was made long ago. It’s well known. And it’s only a trick that they’re using now to deceive the frumme into entering the army.
We have to maintain our privilege that all the countries give, that rabbinical students are patur from the draft, exempt from the draft. We must continue to fight for that and not yield and not listen to the masisim and meidichim who are talking about frum regiments for frum boys.
