Q:
How could we appreciate the hot and humid weather outside?
A:
Boruch Hashem that we have such weather! You’re going to eat apples all winter because of this weather. You’re going to eat latkes and pizza and challos all winter because of the wheat that’s growing in this weather. Without this weather, you couldn’t have anything.
Let’s say you’re walking in the kitchen. “It’s very hot in here,” you say to your wife. So your wife says, “Well, I’m baking a challah. I’m baking cake for you. I can’t bake without the oven.”
“Ooooh, it’s alright then.”
So Hakodosh Boruch Hu’s baking for us. In the summertime all the peiros are becoming ripe. If we had to pay money to buy fuel to make the heat for summertime, we’d run out of money. Hakodosh Boruch Hu gives us free heating in the summertime without any charge. He gives us the necessary warmth to cause all our fruits and grain to ripen. Boruch Hashem for the heat of summer! We should appreciate it and thank Him for it.
