Q:

Why when men get older, do they start losing their hair?

A:

A very important question, and the answer is to advertise that they are losing their ability to have a big family. If you are young and you have a big head of hair, so it means there is a big childbearing era ahead of you. If a girl marries you when you’re young, she can expect a lot of children.

And that’s why you have to get busy and marry before your hair starts falling out because you’re less desirable as a husband. People want to have a lot of children. That’s success in life. What else is success? A whole generation! Imagine people who have thirteen children. What a glorious success their lives have been! They’re living for a purpose. They have to start early. If you wait until your hair falls out so you’ll get a girl who’s also not so young. How many children can you expect? It’s a very big error to marry late.

The blessing of a big family is mechaper on many things. Even though you’re not such a shalem in Torah, you’re not such a perfect person in avodas Hashem, but the fact that you have to suffer to bring up Jewish boys and girls is such a kapparah, צער גידול בנים makes that אינו רואה פני גיהנום. It’s such an achievement that Hakadosh Baruch Hu overlooks many things.

Of course, if you can perfect yourself in all the forms of shleimus in addition to having a family well and good, but we have to remember לא נברא העולם אלא לפריה ורביה, the world was made only for the purpose of raising families. You hear that language? העולם לא נברא אלא לפריה ורביה.

And therefore when people start postponing, Hashem makes them look less desirable and the hair starts falling out, and other signs of deterioration start setting in, and therefore they’re not so fresh and not so energetic looking, and therefore a young girl who is ambitious to have a big family will think of somebody else.
