What should be our opinion on nuclear weapons?

And now comes the great fake, the great delusion of the liberals. ‘No nukes!’ they say.
Anyone who has that sign on his sweater it’s a sign that he’s a low character. Anybody who goes to demonstrations against nuclear energy is a tramp. He’s against morality. He’s for abortion. He’s for everything wicked. Now you’ll ask, is that necessarily so? So I say no, it’s not necessarily so; but it is so.
There was a crazy fellow who should be locked up. His name is Leonard Bernstein. He is a meshugene who belongs in an insane asylum. Some years ago he threw a party in Manhattan, a sophisticated party in Manhattan, to raise money for the Black Panthers. He gave them a big sum of money. Now this big tzaddik and chacham—he’s a man who waves a baton in front of an orchestra all the time—and so he made an announcement and the prestigious New York Times printed it on an important page as if it was something said by a world sage. He said that America should disarm unilaterally. Don’t wait for Russia to disarm. We should throw away all of our armaments and then the Russians will see that there’s nothing to fear from us and that would make world peace. It would be a grand gesture to advance harmony in the world.
That’s his idea. So the Russians would be nice and quiet. They wouldn’t make any more advances anywhere else. They wouldn’t try to take over all of South America and part of Florida and all of Canada and the rest of the world because why should they? Now they’re not afraid of us so they’ll retreat from Afghanistan. They’ll give up Cuba. They’ll just be within their borders. They’ll give up all their plans for world conquest because they see such a beautiful model of America. We unselfishly junked all of our weapons industry so they’ll do the same.
And now you know who the New York Times is if they print that garbage in the most prominent place as if he was a big sage.
We have no business with protesting nuclear arms. If the government sees fit to step up production – because they see we have fallen behind under that fool Carter, with his administration of kowtowing to the liberals who voted against national defense – and now they have to make up for it, at least to let the Russians know that we are also prepared. It’s not in order to shoot atom bombs at Russia. It’s in order that Russia should not invade any more countries, because that’s what they’re going to do, one after the other. Hungary is in Russian claws. Poland is in Russian claws. Germany is in Russian claws. Afghanistan is in Russian claws. They’re not giving up anything. Once they occupy a country they’re there to stay forever. Nicaragua, all of South America, one after the other will fall to them. Castro is nothing but a stooge for Russia.
And therefore the whole world will become unfit for decent people to live because you cannot practice your own conscience. You can’t live Judaism. You can’t live Torah if you’re under a Communist regime. It’s out of the question.
And so Jews should encourage the President. Jews should write letters and say, “Full speed ahead on the nuclear program.”
And we have to know that all these people who are sporting badges or put on their cars emblems that say ‘No Nukes’, these people are victims. They’re blind, following wicked vandals who don’t care for anything except to show off and show that they are avant garde no matter what the consequences are.
