Q:

Is it worthwhile to take vitamin supplements in order to prolong your life?

A:

And the answer is, is it worthwhile to live longer? That’s the answer. Is it worth living longer? Then you should do anything that will help you live longer.
Of course, I’m not saying that it will help you live longer, but if it will, if it is something that al pi teva is supposed to help you live longer, it’s a big mitzvah to live longer.
We say that חיים ברצנו – Hashem wants us to live (Tehillim 30:6). Hashem wants us to live. חיים ברצונו. He wants us to live. Certainly, He wants all frum Jews to live, no question about it. And therefore, you have to be very careful with your health.
By the way, after what happened recently, you shouldn’t let your son or daughter go out anymore on outings. I don’t care what the schools say – your sons and daughters are not supposed to climb mountains.
A person who comes to this shul, his granddaughter climbed on a mountain and fell off the mountain last summer. She needed twelve operations to save her life. Girls are not supposed to be on mountaintops in a forest.
And so, Hakodosh Boruch Hu is a Chofetz Chayim, He wants us to live. And your job is to remain alive and not to go to dangerous places.
