How should a yeshivah man spend his so-called vacation time?
The best thing is to review constantly all that he learned in the winter and spring season because הלומד ואינו חוזר – if you learn and don’t review, כזורע ואינו קוצר – it’s like planting a harvest and never coming to harvest the grain (Sanhedrin 99a). If you plant a field of wheat and you never come back to harvest it, it was a waste of time.
If you planted a whole crop you have to harvest it! And the harvest time is bein hazmanim. So sit and review constantly again and again and again and then you’ll get a taste and a geshmak and a happiness in your learning. You’ll understand it much better and you’ll be much happier too.
