Q:

What should one think about on his birthday?

A:

Ahahahah!  There’s a great deal to think!

I look back at my history.  I see so many people who passed away young, nebachnebachnebach.  A friend of mine, fourteen years old he passed away; at the age of fourteen.  Another one, a little older.

You have to thank Hakodosh Boruch Hu every birthday. Oh yes! You don’t need a party; don’t make a party about it. But think about it. And think about how you owe a debt.  The older you are, the bigger is your obligation to serve Hakodosh Boruch Hu and to thank Him.

And you have to also think, “Time is passing.” The wealth of life is when you’re young.  The older you get, the poorer you become – you have less time to accomplish.”

Now, there’s so much to do in life, so many valuable things to do.  So many accomplishments.

Ah!  If you could learn one Ketzos Hachoshen every week, as the years go by you become a baki in Ketzos Hachoshen.  You know what a happiness that is?  I guarantee it’s a happiness.  A real happiness!

And therefore, as the years pass by you should get more and more concerned about accomplishing all kinds of achievements. All kinds of achievements! Life is happiness because it’s an opportunity.
