Q:

On Yom Yerushalayim what should we say?

A:

So we say סייג לחכמה שתיקה. Don’t say a word.

When a minhag is instituted by the Klal Yisroel, by the Chachmei HaTorah, so it’s a minhag. But when people whom we despise institute a minhag, it doesn’t mean a thing to us. If fools get together and declare a certain day is important so therefore the chachomim should pay attention to them?

Q:
Why don’t we have control of the makom hamikdash, Har Habayis, today?

A:

The answer is because it would be no good. Many people, Modern Orthodox Jews, irreligious Jews, would make trips there and they would go up, men and women in shorts, and they would be taking pictures and eating picnics on the grounds. No, better not; better the Arabs should have it. The Arabs don’t let anybody come up. No pictures. No short dresses. It’s safe; in the Arab hands it’s safe. The best place for the makom hamikdash today is in Arabian hands. For the Jews? Kapparos that it should be in Jewish hands! Chas v’shalom!

Q:
Many groups have called for the internationalization of Yerushalayim. What’s your opinion on that?

A:
Whether Yerushalayim should be internationalized or not, is a question of which I’m not able to speak.  It’s not so simple.  Therefore, I’m not able to give any opinion at all.  I’m a big am ha’aretz on many subjects including that one.
