Rav Avigdor Miller on Earrings and Shalom Bayis

print
Q:
Should frum girls have their ears pierced for earrings?

A:
Why not? If the earrings are kosher to wear, why not? Probably Jewish women have the right to wear earrings like anybody else. When Rivka was given nezamim by her choson, it was because Hakodosh Boruch Hu wants to make the bride more attractive to the choson. Why not? He wants people to get married, and even after they marry, He wants women to be attractive for their husbands. It’s a mitzvah for a woman to be attractive for her husband. And therefore nothing can be considered as wrong, if it is a matter of maintaining her appearance. Not for the street though. You don’t dress up for strange men. But to dress up for your own husband, absolutely.
