Rav Avigdor Miller on Is It Time For Aliyah

print

Q:

Should every Jew in America consider making aliyah to Eretz Yisroel?

A:

The answer is this: Absolutely! But you have to do it in the right time; so when Moshiach comes you should be ready for the aliyah. Everybody should be ready to make aliyah when Moshiach comes. Everyone should be waiting for Moshiach.

Now, you want to whether you should jump the gun and do it first? It depends. If you have a place to live in Eretz Yisroel; if you won’t have to look for charity and your children will have a frum environment, so why not?! But if your children will have to go into the army, you’d better watch out. The army is a slaughterhouse for Jewish boys and Jewish girls. So you’d better watch out, you’d better watch out! It’s a big error to go to Eretz Yisroel and to entrust your children to the army.

Jewish girls in the army don’t become tznu’os, they don’t become decent girls – that you have to know. Don’t deceive yourself; everybody knows what happens in the army. Tens of thousands of abortions takes place every year in the army for the Jewish girls; tens of thousands of abortions! And how many don’t abort?!

And therefore, whether you should go to Eretz Yisroel today or not depends: If you’re going to be a burden on people, if you will have to ask for nedavos, thenit doesn’t pay. But if you have some kind of a livelihood, if you have an income and you move into a good neighborhood, and you’ll be able to guarantee, like the frummeh do, that their children are always only in good environments and your girls get married early and your sons are always bnei Torah and never drafted, then certainly. Why shouldn’t you consider it? But in general, we are waiting for the time when Hakodosh Boruch Hu will summon us to go.
