Rav Avigdor Miller on Novels and Newspapers

Q:

There are some Yeshivos and Beis Yaakovs that are teaching novels that aren’t appropriate for our children. What could we do about this?

A:

For this I’m going to have to refer you to those teachers. No, no, not the teachers – the Roshei Yeshivos. Try to get the Roshei Yeshivos to listen to you for a few minutes on this subject. “I’m busy, I’m this, I’m that.” Get them to listen to you. You’ll be accomplishing a big thing.

Q:

What is wrong with newspapers?

A:

What is right about them? It says מרשעים יצא רשע – “From wicked people, come wicked ideas” (Shmuel 24:13). Now, who are the people there? They are open atheists! They say so themselves, that they are proud atheists. So what can you expect from them? And therefore, you ask, what is wrong with newspapers?! Everything is wrong.
