Humility before Him
The חובות הלבבות writes that one of the essential objectives and purposes of Tefillah is the humility of man before his Creator. In Tefillah, we recognize how much we truly need Hashem, and how insignificant we are without Him. We thereby gain more Fear of Him, and begin to feel truly humbled in His presence.
