Through Tefilah, we have the ability to open a gateway to unlimited greatness. While in the realm of actual deeds we are limited, in Tefilah we are not limited at all. We can ask Hashem to help the needy and to heal the sick and to rescue all the afflicted. We can beg for Moshiach, for Yerushalayim, and for the return of the Shechina to our midst. By desiring and vocalizing these great aspirations, it is considered by Hashem as if we performed these achievements in deed as well. “If a man thought to do a מצוה but was circumstantially unable to do it, it is considered for him as if he had actually done it” (Brachos 6a).
