We have been like a wayward son, failing to render You the proper honor and to perform our duties. Please forgive and forget our failings as only a father can forgive His beloved children.
מחל לנו מלכנו כי פשענו
ABSOLVE US OUR KING THAT WE HAVE BEEN DISOBEDIENT
We have been disobedient servants, refusing to accept Your sovereignty as King. Please pardon us, and we will accept upon ourselves the great yoke of Your service.
כי מוחל וסולח אתה
FOR YOU ABSOLVE AND FORGIVE
“You absolve us”, for we are Your loyal nation that proclaim You as our true King. “And You forgive” us, for we are Your children, and we recognize You as our true Father.
