SPEEDILY IN OUR DAYS
May we see with our own eyes the speedy and sudden destruction of the minim and falsifiers, so that we may rejoice in our days in the revelation of Your glory and truth.
ברוך אתה ה’ שובר אויבים ומכניע זדים
BLESSED ARE YOU HASHEM WHO BREAKS ENEMIES AND SUBJUGATES THE WICKED
We thank You for breaking their power as well as for degrading their prestige, for only then can the righteous flourish, and we too gain Awareness of the Truth when we see the downfall of Your enemies.
על הצדיקים ועל החסידים
UPON THE RIGHTEOUS AND UPON THE DEVOTED
“Hashem loves the righteous”, and so too we must constantly be concerned and pray for their success as well. We mention the צדיקים, those that do according to the line of duty, and the חסידים, the devoted who go לפנים משורת הדין, in especial dedication to Hashem.
ועל זקני עמך
AND UPON THE ELDERS OF YOUR PEOPLE
These are our Sages, who above their righteousness possess also the great virtue of Limud Hatorah. They are the “Elders of Your people”, for with their wisdom and Torah-knowledge they guide us in the ways of Hashem.
