ותן שכר טוב
AND GIVE GOOD REWARD
We request a “good reward” for the righteous, one that will be good in the eyes of men even in this life and will thereby sanctify the name of Hashem, and even the materialists who value only worldly success will come to recognize the truth of Hashem.

(AND GIVE GOOD REWARD) TO ALL THAT TRUST
“ברוך הגבר אשר יבטח בה’ והיה ה’ מבטחו”, “Blessed is the man that trusts in Hashem, and Hashem shall be His trust” When men will see the good reward that You bestow upon those who trust in You, they too will be motivated to serve and to further trust in Your name.

TO ALL THAT TRUST
“To all that trust”, for if even one truster is denied reward, the honor of Your name will be greatly diminished, for all men will immediately look at that one individual and ignore all the righteous that live happily and successfully with the good reward they receive straight from Your kindly hand.

IN YOUR NAME
Although the trusters cannot see with their eyes Your true glory, yet they undertake the great task of trusting in “Your great Name” that You have made known through Your great miracles to our Fathers before us, and to us as well, from before our birth down to this very day.

IN TRUTH
We pray only for those who “trust in truth”. No one can be considered a truster in Hashem unless he is loyal to His Mitzvos and honors His Torah and His Chachomim and His holy and beloved people Yisroel.
