באור פניך
WITH THE LIGHT OF YOUR FACE
All blessing, all well-being and success, both in ruchniyus and in gashmiyus, is nothing but the result of the light of Your face. Please cast Your smiling gaze upon us, which without there could be no blessing at all.
כי באור פניך נתת לנו, ה’ א-להינו, תורת חיים ואהבת חסד
FOR WITH THE LIGHT OF YOUR FACE YOU GAVE TO US, HASHEM OUR G-D, A TORAH OF LIFE AND A LOVE OF KINDLINESS
Our greatest fortunes came from the light of Your face; the gift of Torah, life itself, and Your endless kindliness and love for us. Thus we ask that You continue to smile upon us with ‘the light of Your face’.
וצדקה, וברכה, ורחמים
AND MERIT AND BLESSING AND MERCY
Grant us צדקה, the opportunity to gain zechuyos, and ברכה, for our zechuyos will never be enough, and רחמים, which without we surely are undeserving. Only with these can we merit ‘the light of Your face’.
